Sweaty hands can be awkward but I do have some great tips that you can use to prevent them today. Discover more in this article.
What Are Sweaty Hands?
Sweaty hands actually have a medical name. This condition is called palmar hyperhidrosis which means too much water on the hands. The great thing is that there are many ways to treat this type of excessive sweating.
Mild Cases
If you have only a mild case, then you can try a few thing such as breathing on your hands to evaporate the sweat. A lot of tennis players do this between games. Or you can just wipe your hands on the back of your shirt or on your trousers.
If your sweaty hands problem is much worse than this then read on for more tips.
Anxiety
If you find that your hands only sweat when you are feeling anxious - for instance, for a job interview or meeting new people, then you might want to consider drugs which combat this anxiety. Antidepressant drugs will control anxiety and significantly reduce this type of sweating.
Beta blockers stop your body from overreacting to these kinds of events. They work much faster and you can take them just for big events if you want to.
However, if you don't like drugs that affect your moods as well as your sweating then read on for non-drug treatments.
Antiperspirants
Your doctor can actually give you an antiperspirant that you can use on your hands to stop the sweating. You only need to use it about once per week although it does have side effects such as burning and itching sensation.
Botox
Although this can be painful as well as expensive, this procedure will stop sweating for up to 3 to 6 months.
Compensatory Sweating
For all the above treatments except for the drugs, your body will still have an excessive sweat problem so will just divert it to other areas - usually the chest and the back.
